WHAT?? How did no one ever bring this up in his prime???

There’s definitely a current wave of people switching now thanks to Windows 11
December 13, 2025 at 6:57 PM
Mark why don’t you travel to some other countries with successful UHC and talk to the people there who can answer these questions? We don’t have to reinvent the wheel here.
December 11, 2025 at 11:55 PM
All this just sounds like being annoyed that they are good

Considering he will now make almost $50M more over the same 7 seasons, it’s clear that offer was a lowball and he was right to reject it. If the Mets wanted him to stay they’d pay his market price. Stevie can afford it.

This but also, why not just wait a year when he will only cost money?
December 11, 2025 at 8:14 PM
I was excited to get a Nokia at 17 and a friend who already had one scoffed with distain, “it’s a leash”
December 11, 2025 at 6:51 AM
This is a Bauman-level tweet headline, well done Jay
December 10, 2025 at 8:35 PM
Yeah I'm skeptical he would have that kind of thing, but quite a limb to go out on.
December 10, 2025 at 3:42 AM
didn't they do that with Glasnow?
December 10, 2025 at 3:39 AM
no idea if this guy gets scoops but this would qualify
December 10, 2025 at 3:36 AM
"Bill has covered sports for the U-T since 1967"

on-brand old guy move
December 9, 2025 at 9:51 PM
Personally I think those are good reasons to keep a guy out while he's alive. I apply that standard to Schilling in particular. Rose's crimes against baseball imo should keep him out forever though. Bonds and Clemens, I kind of think baseball deserves the "punishment" of their induction speeches.

The Hall selects who's on these committees, and who's on these ballots, and makes the rules around them. Do you think a committee with Bagwell, Piazza, Ortiz, Maddux, Pedro, and Jeter might have different opinions on Bonds and Clemens than a bunch of players from the 70's and 80's?
December 9, 2025 at 8:48 PM
Before Freeman got to LA he was not good enough for long enough. His excellent production on the Dodgers is what pushed him over the edge into obvious HoF territory. There's a reason for the saying, "you make the Hall in your 30's."
December 8, 2025 at 1:48 AM
Utley's career was short-ish like Donnie's but he was better in his prime. Hence his significant WAR advantage, and why he's a better candidate.
December 8, 2025 at 1:30 AM
The fact that he fell apart completely is a point against him. He doesn't get extra credit for not being able to produce well into his 30's, in fact he gets a demerit for it.
December 8, 2025 at 1:29 AM
so the thing about the baseball Hall of Fame is also having an elite second decade is even more valuable than just an elite first decade
December 8, 2025 at 1:28 AM
Utley played a more difficult defensive position and was also a much better baserunner. Mattingly is no where close to Freeman, sorry.
December 8, 2025 at 1:17 AM
Really appreciate you rethinking pitchers, and recognizing that if Pettitte meets the standard then so must Buehrle and Hamels.
December 7, 2025 at 9:30 PM
It’s one step above “betting markets say team X is the favorite to land player Y”
December 7, 2025 at 5:23 PM
We know, we’ve already been where you are right now. Makes this all the more enjoyable now.
December 7, 2025 at 2:40 AM
The disrespect to your Joe Blanton challenge smh
December 7, 2025 at 2:25 AM
He was on mostly mediocre WhiteSox teams. If he’d been drafted by the Yankees he’d have 250 Wins, like Pettitte.
December 5, 2025 at 8:46 PM
He is the modern Sutton, and as such should be in He didn’t get to 300 Wins because no one does anymore, the game has changed.
