The name "Popular Science" doesn't mean we shift our coverage depending on public opinion. It means we cover relevant subjects that are rigorously researched, reliable, and grounded in reality.

And trans lives are grounded in reality.

We see y'all. No matter what.

First-of-a-kind study shows encouraging data for trans kids who socially transition
Ninety-four percent of participants in a new study stood firm in their trans identity after five years, and "detransitioning" is rare.

I am an old man, @mozilla.org, and I was happy to sit in my rocking chair and use Firefox until sunset. But if you insist on choking this browser with GenAI bloat, I will face God and walk backwards into Linux.
@mozilla.org I have been using Firefox for YEARS. Not sure what the new CEO is hoping to achieve by "AI everything now" but if the hope is to drive people like me off your browser, you will surely succeed.

Don't say "it will die in the senate"

Say "I will kill it in the senate"

And then call them. It takes so few calls, comparatively, to make it feel like a wave crashing over them. We need to be the wave, again and again.

Mozilla has a new CEO and he just announced that Firefox will evolve into a modern AI browser. This is a good example of how management doesn’t understand its own user base and why they go out of their way to install Firefox on Windows, Android, iOS and other devices blog.mozilla.org/en/mozilla/l...

Perplexed by authors using AI for cover illustrations.
If you had spent all that time/effort/love/EVERYTHING you put into writing...isn't part of that dream to see how another PERSON has interpreted your work?? Another creative? A visual reminder that what you MADE inspired another piece of art?!

I don't want my appliances to talk to me. I want them to do my mundane tasks. I don't want my appliances to write my messages or to think my thoughts. I want my laundry to be folded and my dishes to be washed.

Instead rich tech bros are building art and writing piracy machines. They lack the fortitude and commitment required to develop deep skills, particularly creative skills. They want a shortcut, so we get genAI slop instead of folded laundry.

It’s a dog! It’s a fish! It’s even cuter than that! Koi dogs are rambunctious and goofy little friends who live in lakes, ponds, and sometimes the ocean. This charming black and white pup and their family are ready to swim off to new homes this weekend at MFF!
