These guys really underestimate how bad things could get if the legal system is no longer seen as capable of providing justice. All these systems were put in place by and shaped around the interests of the ruling class, and they're just bulldozing them with no regard to consequence.

Also important to note that Hamas is the entire civilian government of Gaza, not just militants. Schoolteachers, cops, ambulance drivers - all considered Hamas.

We talk a lot about ICE, and they absolutely suck, but CBP is the worst of the worst. They've acculturated for decades on abusing and killing migrants with absolute impunity and now they've been unleashed on our citizens.

Presumably they thought they could just pay to make it go away, and that strategy was definitely working for them until suddenly it didn't.
