Concern should be less about buffoons like Boris and should be focused on the track record of the UK government with large scale IT projects. That's to say, it's not good and without a watchdog that has actual teeth I don't trust them to get it done and keep our data safe.

While I do have some concerns about the encroachment of civil liberty. I am more concerned that the UK government has an appalling track record with major IT projects (Horizon, several NHS ones, COVID trackers).
