His earlier tariffs even brought favorable trade deals for him, and some European importers even lowered their profits, to compensate for the tariffs. Trump allies called it "imperial tariffs". Now, Europe is cornered and has already announced to cancel the previous deal. It can't back down now.

Those 40% appear stable for long time, whenever US liberal media report low approval rates for Trump. Not a majority, but not what one might expect for an ongoing dictator, who runs his country down and only resorts to bullying.
