I'm just some guy. Used to be that guy. No longer
Congratulations, Republicans. By installing a toadie at the head of cbs news, you have reinvigorated P2P sharing (LimeWire). Beyond speech.

In bad news, Trump has finally threatened senators with death for suggesting our military leaders follow the law. After firing a huge number, presumably this with a spine in his news, America gets it's first t&t, with a 20 minute drive from my house, and my Mexican residence card is in my pocket

Dear american newspapers we need more coverage of the military in the streets of America. Front page every day. People don't really believe it.

The sf chronicle is running more population doom loop stories to sell papers. If you consider sf a region not The City And County, we have a mix. But "everything's fine" doesn't sell papers

Why are the republicans killing science? Will people care?

The grateful dead are a menlo park band, not San Francisco. All the early warlocks gigs were here and in Palo Alto. The first gig under the Grateful Dead name was in San Jose. They hung out and worked and jammed at a local music store. Get off my porch, San Francisco.

How could anyone care about the Epstein List, compared to democracy? Is it like we don't know what kind of person Trump or Musk is? Stop with the salacious bread and circus already, start paying attention to power and policy.

I don't donate blood because no one gives me 1000 bucks off my healthcare. Blood is big business and health care is big business. Everyone is making a profit and dropping standards, why should i give something valuable for free? No one else does.

Regrettably, the next federal judge may look at the numbers in ice sweeps. If a great majority of those detained end up being deportable, it will be hard to argue the officer's judgement and "totality of evidence" is not accurate. The amount of fear generated is not the legal question. Regrettably.

i support no trans in womens sports. i don't support the gop rhetoric that trans are men. trans are trans. they deserve all the rights, but title ix was not written for trans. Congress can change it and present an evidence based definition of trans based on modern medicine. @scottwiener.bsky.social

The greatest cause of people in America without authorization is the court backlog. The party of dumb defunds the immigration system. Glorious.
July 3, 2025 at 7:51 PM
Trump now working to remove Musk's citizenship because he likely broke laws in naturalization.

This is what you signed up for, tech supporters.
July 2, 2025 at 3:36 PM
Can we start calling the Republicans The Party of Dumb? Because i disagree with only about half of what they are trying to do, and 100 percent of how they are doing it

So ICE is targeting Southern California for political reasons. And specifically (Friday) stated they would not venture into the Red farmland, because Trump supporters are there.

Nice.

Can someone say why the 9th circuit stayed the ruling that the federalization of the ca national guard was illegal?
June 13, 2025 at 3:47 PM
Marine commanders could have refused an unlawful order, but protecting federal property is probably lawful. We will see if they refuse unlawful orders, if any, are issued after they deploy in California. Given the trump lies (water? La obliterated?) it's easy to imagine unlawful orders.

Every time I think i am unshockable, he does it again. Any form of violence against any law is rebellion, but killing police in the senate building and attempting to block the presidential election was a witch hunt, 1000+ people pardoned.

It's like this guy was a star on reality tv.

Oh wait.

You know what's funny? Republicans are against teaching the darker moments of American history, because it puts USA in a bad light. Instead, they are putting us into a dark time that everyone living now will remember. When all people live in fear. Good job guys.

Kilmar Abrego Garcia is still illegally imprisoned in Guatemala. No news articles this week. Apparently the US gov got 188 correct and one or two wrong. But what if that one wrong is you?

The market seems to be pricing in that Trump will fold on tariffs. If you disagree, you should short major broad indexes or get out of your long equity holdings.

I agree with the researchers that the experiment was good. We need to know how persuasive ai is. Picking one subreddit, and two issues, that don't advocate harm or trauma, seems very reasonable. Blocking publishing of the research is bad policy.

‘The Worst Internet-Research Ethics Violation I Have Ever Seen’
The most persuasive “people” on a popular subreddit turned out to be a front for a secret AI experiment.

Freaky Tales at the Grand Lake Theater last night was a blast! Lots of people, lots of energy, the film anchors on the Grand Lake so much hooting and hollering whenever it came up!

Dear Canada. I would love to pursue residence in your country. I have many skills, despite being older, can support myself, and play a mean cello, and have Canadian friends. But you don't want my sort, on any terms, so mexico it will be. The brian drain could be towards canada, if you let it.

I just realized car camping with an ev means a sweet little induction cooktop and an electric kettle for coffee. No more tramping hydrocarbons around. Along with the electric ice chest.
