History isn’t behind us.
It’s standing right in front of us,
waiting to see what we’ll do.

These thoughts linger:
Who is seen as foreign on their own land?
Who is treated like a threat for daring to exist?
Who is always asked to prove their humanity?

Some of my family has been here longer than the state itself. But there are others—neighbors, friends, strangers in the crowd—whose roots run even deeper than ours.

And they’re the ones being targeted now.

That help came from families who’ve called this place home longer than many of us have. Before this was California, it was something else. Before it was a state, it was a promise. Before lines were drawn, it was a home.

Not that long ago, when the land was burning, people came across the border to help us breathe. They didn’t have to—but they did.

Freedom, to someone who only knew control, looks like rebellion.

But to us? It looks like love.

The ex’s comment revealed more than they realized. It spoke volumes about how they used to view my partner—not as a person with autonomy, but as someone to control.

What bothers them isn’t that I'm "in charge" of my partner now. It’s that my partner is free.

I do acts of service not out of obligation, but out of joy. And while I do more acts of service, and answer to more requests from my partner than my partner does for me, she still gives just as much as she receives. We value mutually supportive, growth oriented collaboration.

The truth? I'm not my partner's master. She's my equal. There's a reason we use the word partner. It means a lot to us.

She asks me for things, and I’m happy to show up for her—because I love her, and because love built on mutual respect looks like that sometimes.

You’re not a hero.
You’re part of the problem.

Support isn’t about feeding your ego.
It’s about respecting the person you're claiming to help.
No consent = no real support.

Stop playing savior. Start listening. Or leave.

We can’t look away.
We must stand with the Palestinian people in meaningful, unapologetic ways.

Because none of us are free until all of us are free.(8/8)

That is the only path to real peace, safety, and dignity—for everyone.

We have to hold space for a third path. One rooted in shared humanity. (7/8)

We must not twist the definition of antisemitism into a perverse form of Zionism that demands Palestinian blood.

We must embrace a Zionism that demands Palestinian liberation. (6/8)

Criticizing Israel is not the same as supporting Hamas.
Criticizing Hamas is not the same as supporting Israel.

And vilifying people in the U.S. for criticizing Israel—especially students and activists—is unjust, dishonest, and dangerous. (5/8)

Freedom means raising your children without bombs, checkpoints, or fear.
Freedom means access to healthcare, electricity, clean water, education, and a future.
Freedom means dignity, justice, and the ability to speak your truth. (4/8)

Freedom means sovereignty over land, water, and governance.
Freedom means no interference—from Israel, the U.S., Iran, or anyone else.
Freedom means the right to self-determination and to make amends when mistakes are made. (3/8)

Israel cannot live in peace with its neighbors until the Palestinian people are truly free.

And what does freedom mean? (2/8)
