Maybe remote post offices can provide banking services? Presumably some of those remote locations are underserved. What other gov't service opportunities might there be? Licensing? Issuance of simple permits? I don't think the gov has fully examined the benefits of such an expansive network

Post Offices used to be granted monopoly power over basic mail (revenue generator) in exchange for a Universal Service Obligation (cost). Basic mail just isn't as lucrative as it used to be, and the network / pension costs related to the USO are huge. But a network that size presents opportunities

One day a week. The provincial government worked an average of one day a week. That's the blue-collar work ethic the provincial Conservatives profess to admire, I guess. My kingdom for a viable alternative

Super helpful -- thanks very much!

Do players of that calibre ever fall through the cracks in today's MLB or is it more of a relic of a bygone era?

I feel like it's a thing that I see discussed briefly this time of year and at the end of it everyone shrugs, says, "I guess we'll see" and then I never hear how it works out.

Who is the Jays' best ever Rule 5 selection?

Who is the best player they've ever lost in the Rule 5 Draft?

The thing with Rand Paul is that you'll never hear him use the word "must". It's anathema to Libertarians, so everything for him always has to be rooted in choice. There is no society, there is only the individual.

I’m half a person without my job. It’s pathetic.

"Lawless Supreme Court" reads like hysterics, but increasingly feels like present-day America

I don’t know if I’ll retire, but I’d love to be able to cut my working hours in half.

Who's to say?

Would you consider adding hot sauce to it, or would that make it worse?
