The cenotaph in Chester, Nova Scotia, Canada. I am always shaken by the war lists of those killed in WW1. All of these small Canadian coastal villages who contributed so many men to the CEF, and who never returned. @sommecourt.bsky.social

The Cenotaph in Trinity, Newfoundland, Canada. A moving tribute to those lost while serving with the Royal Navy and in the Royal Newfoundland Regiment. @sommecourt.bsky.social

@ww1cemeteries.bsky.social @tonypollard.bsky.social @footstepspod.bsky.social I stopped at the village cenotaph in Paris Ontario, Canada. These boys from South Western Ontario filled the ranks of many 1st and 2nd Canadian Division battalions in the CEF, 1914-1918, as well as the Canadian Army 39-45.

Respectfully, well, I always knew the USA army did not know how to march properly. This might seem superfluous in a the USA's new"warrior" army, but marching is a trusted way of instilling pride in your unit and not looking like a uniformed and undisciplined mob.

Tomorrow's headline, TRUMP SIGNS EXECTIVE ORDER MAKING HIMSELF POPE. Says it is necessary to make the Roman Catholic Church great again, and that the Vatican is a dump, just like Buckingham Palace.

Expensive status symbols for the rich. Looks like there really are two America's, one for the.....at least the USA is consistent, like making business dinners at elite restaurants tax deductible.

There has always been a troubling fetishization of the nazis. My stepfather, who fought in Normandy with the RCA used to joke "I can't believe the Nazis lost, they had the best looking uniforms". I wonder if that is the draw for Nazi reenactors, as they look past the murder and butchery.

He is 100% gaming the market for himself, family and his cronies. Corruption to the core, and he is just getting started

On this day, 1917, my grandfather was about to take part in the attack on Vimy Ridge during the Battle of Arras. 2nd Canadian Divisional Trench Mortors, Y Battery. The notes in his pocket diary are pretty straightforward. Remarkable.

Mexico at 105. I'm not surprised Canada isn't coordinating our tariff response with them.

I remember watching Pink Floyd's The Wall when it was first released. One quick image at the beginning of the film rang a bell. The original image is of Canadian casualties in WW1. I saw this image in a book of Canadian war photographs.

I am sure American university students are thinking twice about traveling abroad this summer unless they intend to impersonate Canadians again. Most of the "Canadians" I met during my travel days in the 80s ended up being... disappointingly..."Americans". en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_ja...

Very Trump to push the North American economy into depression to change the subject from his national security team's carelessness and lies.

Americans are incredibly self conscious, never admit a mistake, and can never take a joke at their own expense. They are boring as shit. The self-confidence is all a show.

Unserious people doing very serious work. They are playing at going their jobs, not actually doing their jobs. This is typical "fake it until I make it" behavior.
