I understand your thought process. I believe it’s more of a Tim Pool situation where they’re receiving money from groups because they do stunts like this and not having to worry about losing sponsorships over it.

I’d say avatar had such a massive cultural influence, that it created a hype that couldn’t be lived up to.

When I saw the rerelease of avatar in 3d, I was blown away by how it was easily still the best looking 3D movie ever made. The second was one was even better. The third was very inconsistent.

And it’s not because avatar wasn’t relevant, it’s because 26 years later the only person who is making good 3D content is James Cameron. 3D TVs were too expensive. Jurassic Park & Phantom Menace in 3D was utter crap. And not enough people will pay the premium to see Minions Rise of Gru in 3D.

As good as that song is, I love the dance techno version from the early 00’s even more.
