My theory: after a generation of increased productivity while inflation-adjusted wages flatline, soaking in a coast-to-coast propaganda pool, and not "feeling" the post-pandemic-recovered economy, people make irrational bad choices.
This should go without saying, but a country focused on cheaper eggs and gas doesn’t need to be thinking about acquiring Greenland—and shouldn’t vote for conmen who are mentally deranged.

I found this a bit ago. I can’t hardly imagine a politician today saying, “Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country.” We are missing a sense of obligation and of wanting to leave this world better than we found it.
