Idle musings about stuff washed up on the beach.
Bald eagle talon prints on the beach. So huge.

Saltwater Croc washed up today. Some young person very unhappy after adding the very timely Stitch charm.

How many Crocs end up in the world's oceans every year? Shipping container losses have been in the media but I suspect most of them slip off of feet.

I don't know what these plastic caps are but they frequently wash up on the beach. Otters investigated this one.

Literally Flock of Seagulls partying on the beach while I was listening to Space Age Love Song.

To some this is a million years old igneous rock with linear quartz intrusions--to others it's a wishing stone.

Bright blue trash always stands out as unnatural. I find maybe ten, fifteen Nerf gun dart bullet thingies on the beach every year.

Our kids had 'em for a little while. But if they'd have shot a round into the water, I think they'd have had to swim for it.

Taking a darker turn today with the times. An unlucky cormorant becomes lunch for a juvenile bald eagle and its parents. I guess it's The Way.

Can anyone identify this? Cartilaginous. About 18cm across.

Hundreds of thousands of tires in the Salish Sea. Most of which wash up near me.

Couple years ago I tried to haul some off the beach. Transfer station refused, "too clean, take them to a tire store." Tire store refused, "Too barnacly, take them to the transfer station." The catchiest of 22's.

Photogenic otter poop.

Sweet smelling low tide today, little rivers of soundwater running down the beach carving tiny canyons. Found this cool ball of eggs. Maybe squid?

Taking a break from flotsam and jetsam. Lovely horse clam shell... After a moon snail had drooled acid on it, drilled through it with its toe and sucked the clam out through the perfectly round hole.

Bunny sized chunk of Styrofoam. You can see the little spherical blobs shedding as it's battered by wind, waves, and sun.

It gets into our bodies and accumulates in the walls of our small intestines and elsewhere. Yeah, you are part Styrofoam.

Drizzly chilly day on the beach. Amongst the shades of gray was this little blob of purple.

Who in the world is buying single use plastic tiny soda cans full of sugar imported from China and then tossing them into Puget Sound?

Fun fact, the importer's slogan is "We Put the Fun in the Munch."
