I was turned off by how... "video gamey" the dialogue is. "Come on protagonist, you should know this by now. It's the thing!" -proceeds to infodump and exposit for the next fifteen minutes about things our protagonist should clearly know- Some modern games have spoiled me with organic dialogue.

When the party meets the protagonist of Route B.

Thirty or forty something chubby "loser" archetype who keeps the physically fit, trophy husband in a state of wanting to keep his little baby boy happy, unable to refuse any request to spoil him rotten, while letting him stay home and laze about like a literal child all day.

As far as cultural ties based on region or affiliation, it's just as plausible as anything. Humans get grumpy when you mistake them for being a native of the next county/province over due to dialect, so the world really is your oyster.

If there can be wood elves, high elves, dark elves, sea elves, plaid elves, cadbury elves, banananonanafofana elves, etc. and they're all treated as distinct species despite clearly having shared genetic roots, Gnolls can have diversified based on region and biome just like any species.

Consolidating mechanics for gameplay transparency isn't really a bad thing, as such differences really are just cosmetic and narrative-focused. If a pc species needs a specific trait that doesn't lie in the core rules, it can always be home-brewed.

I have bad anxiety from earlier attempts at socialization due to being misconstrued/mistaken for belonging to very broad encompassing aspects of fetishes. I dislike feeling as if my particular interests are being devalued or invalidated by broad appeal association with general ABDL themes.
