I'm none of those things - I'm that oppressed minority, the straight, white man, who has had all the power for the last few thousand years. Poor me.

But this shit isn't about me. I'll be fine. It's about people who need help - and Labour aren't helping. So I'm out. They lost me.

It’s absolutely well-deserved money - communicating really complex change management in the way you have is a talent.

This would do fantastically as an article, and I would love to ask - would you be open to a commission for Bearly Politics?

Absolutely reconsider.

My worry is that they’ve chosen this path and seem very set on seeing it through.

Like I said, there are good policies that I agree with - but those just aren’t good enough at this time.

I hope it changes, but I don’t feel optimistic.

Hope you have a lovely Saturday! 🐻

Life is unpredictable, and if they were to completely change their approach to the segmentation of migrants between those who are deserving and those who are not, and if they change tack when it comes to welfare to include not only reform but much greater support for disabled communities, I would

It really is brilliant - one of the best and most succinct explanations of systems change I have seen in a long time!

Still, I thoroughly appreciate this brilliant thread on change, thank you again, @metaphorqu.bsky.social.

The framing of not only migration but of certain types of migrants as deleterious to our society sits very, very badly with me.

As acknowledged, there are good things being done.

For me personally though, there are deliberate policy choices that have alienated me.

In the coming years from this government will bring dividends (a greater focus on alleviating child poverty for one, and the strengthening of workers rights as another).

However, as a migrant, I am seriously struggling to reconcile the approach that the government and home office have taken.

The final point here is this:

I am not a Labour Bear - I’m a Political Bear. If I was not being critical of Labour, I would not be doing my job properly.

Have a nice weekend, everyone.

Both of those things can be true - and pretending otherwise is part of the problem.

And treating voters as permanently owned once they’ve put a cross in a box is exactly how parties lose the right to claim moral authority.

I voted for Labour last year, and their decisions since have pushed me out.

That isn’t disloyalty that I was accused of in an email from a long term reader this morning - that’s democracy.

Blind loyalty is not a virtue. Critical support is not betrayal.
