We will see...my prediction: lots of delay and denial tactics, lots of claims it's a pure accident and of course this does not represent a pattern of behavior and china is innocent of all wrongdoing. It will go nowhere in court and nothing will happen.

It uhh, seems to me to be of dubious value to have the instigator involved with the investigation of themselves.
Could you elaborate on why their cooperation would be useful or wanted at all? Unless there's some agreement like "you caught us, we'll stop if you keep it quiet", seems pointless.

maybe it's just me but I feel like diplomatic tensions should be fucking high with chinese and chinese affiliated ships constantly fucking up western underseas cables.
Certainly not worth say, starting a war over, but this behavior will continue unless there are consequences.
