The US media have been leaning right since Raygun gutted the Fairness Doctrine in 1987. They started showing their true colors with the 1992 campaign when they trashed Bill Clinton. They called the election in 2000 for Dubya, even though he lost. It's been downhill ever since.

And the media were never really left-leaning. Every single columnist was a right-wing ass, and the editorials were a piss poor attempt to be centrist.
