Have spent the last week whilst I've been sick learning some Tatreez embroidery, which is a traditional form of Palestinian embroidery 🪡

I've learnt it via a gorgeous website called www.tatreeztraditions.com which offers how to and free downloads of motifs 🌲

This is favourite embroidery, it was done by a soldier who was injured during World War II and stayed at the First Eastern General Hospital in Cambridge.

I think a lot about the links between injury, disability and mental health and how textiles is woven through these histories 🪡🪿

I wrote a piece for @shcg.bsky.social newsletter magazine about some beautiful embroideries at the Museum of Cambridge. In my role as Collections Officer I curated 'The Stories Behind the Stitches' which has sadly ended now, but got to research all about these pieces stitched by injured soldiers. 🪡
