I think it’s about being reactive vs being in a flow state, shooting from farther out is statistically less likely to go in but if the player is in control of the run-up and creating an opening, he’s more likely to get the shot he wants than in a crowded box where he has to make a snap judgment

He’s functionally as rich in reality as he is on paper. Classic rich person strategy to strong arm banks into giving leveraged loans with highly favorable interest rates. Wealth is “tied up” in stocks by design. Stocks keep increasing in value & don’t have to pay taxes if you don’t sell them.

Mostly accurate but I think Maher is too much of an egomaniac to hate his audience. Or any audience. He’s too self-absorbed to pay attention to who listens, as long as he gets to have a microphone and camera on him he’ll be perfectly content

And just so I can be clear about this: my initial reaction was shock and my thoughts immediately went to “what a racist pos”. I can’t even remember ever seeing a person of color referee a premier league game, that must absolutely change. My hope is that we never let Marriner live it down.

Re: seeing this joke differently, I can definitely understand and appreciate that. Many fans understood that reference, but jokes that require having historical context will not land with everyone. I think one way to fight racism is to endlessly mock racists for being thick clowns.
