There *is* a reason. This class of statistical models deals with abstract meaningless tokens and the frequency in which they appear syntactically close to each other. There is no meaning, and there is no *space* in the model for meaning.

Speaking as a Mexican who's gone into that "America is the continent" rant, I think a bit of the issue here is that I don't mean *you* should be called American, what I want is for the US people to stop grabbing the entire continent's name just for themselves.

If I go no deeper than news bites and personal experience, high inflation and high unemployment go hand in hand. So, "get rid of the people stealing jobs -> reduce unemployment -> lower inflation" could ring true.
