The detail that annoys the F out of me was how these AI (sic) company execs and owners flat out assert that without the unlimited right to steal other people's and companies' intellectual property, the AI companies would have no product. In other words, a business model built on deliberate crimes.

I did. It was great.

My typical response now when some jingoistic MFer yawps "we're a nation of laws, not men" is to laugh maniacally.

I don't think enough realize the Republican position on the law is "Nothing is illegal when we do it, even murder; everything is illegal when the other side does it, no matter what."

Really, when you get down to the nation's original sin, it was the almost universally accepted proposition that some humans can literally be owned by others, to do with as they please.

Ownership is slavery, no matter the victim.

Terry Pratchett said is best and most succinctly: Evil begins when people are treated as things.

In the US, 'ownership' of children is practically baked into the culture, which is also why women are routinely infantilized as if we don't know how to live autonomously.

Poetry can be like that. 😉 But yes, they just liked how it sounded, red was among James' and Lucia Jr's favorite colors and to them the phrase symbolised love blossoming. (Sources: My rattletrap trivia-laden brain (given that's the era I grew up in), pretty sure Googly has it somewhere, too.)

The degree of emotional control I'm exercising on a nearly continuous basis is exhausting, too, but I'm not seeing any other options if I'm to be functional. So I take each day as it comes and try to be self-forgiving for not being my former 100% self.

Aspects of this ongoing grieving & recovery process of which I wasn't aware include the variability of these conditions, as well as how sharp and cutting the loss a spouse remains ten months later.

Note: I am speaking/posting about Dem politicians, not the vast number of Democratic party members and voters like myself who wish they'd just f*cking grow a spine already and STOP f*cking cooperating with the Republican politicians who are frogmarching us away from liberty, freedom, and democracy.

It took me a while to get used to using a Neti pot. The first few times were extremely weird-feeling, but after I got used to it. I began to really look forward to having completely clear sinuses.

I used to get sinus infections ALL the time. Now? Rarely.

Sadly, I can't dispute your characterization

GOPers: "NOTHING's a crime when we do it, so we're gonna set untrained, unscreened, unfit psychos loose to harass & kill anybody they want"
Dems: "Don't provoke them! Let's talk about the economy & midterms."
GOPers: "Cancel elections"
Dems: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

For me in November it was, "Oh right, three weeks on the road and roughly 2.5k miles driven during that time."

A few months ago, I hadn't even had an Audible subscription for years, because I didn't need/use it before (and wasn't traveling hardly at all).

A good story does make the miles go by.

Things didn't really start to change until the mid-1970s. Besides knowledge & awareness, many ordinary people were able to stop hiding and be their authentic selves finally. And many who were miserable, lonely, depressed, dysphoric, etc. finally had names for their situation & weren't alone anymore.

Growing up in the 1960s, I was oblivious to any of the LGBTQ+ possibilities and variations.

Stereotypically gay men, a teeny handful of rich, famous & odd trans women worldwide…and that's it. Also, back then being anything other than cis & straight was considered a mental disorder.

I looked at that and instantly thought, "Oh look, it's a DIY 'Steal My Identity' kit." Don't even have to break in.
