Yeah honestly it came down to time (I have none) and similarity to 🐦. The Mastodon server thing sounded like something I needed to convene my team for a rec on. This took no time & the similarity to the bird app means I don’t have to learn a new UI
That said, I’m not opposed to joining Mastodon!

Curious as to what this setting is intended to do.
Does it mean that there will be posts from political hate groups that are bad enough to hide but not bad enough to ban? That it will hide posts from poorly moderated federated instances?
Such a strange option to have at all.

Ok so in theory I can make a “thin” PDS that just consumes the firehose from bsky, filters it to my liking, and exposes lexicon? I could just point this app at it and it would just work?

We've started to use invite chains as an input for reputation. Invites are private to servers, and can be tooling for server admins to protect their community.
After today, if a banned/actioned account invited you or you invited them, your posts may temporarily not show up in the What’s Hot feed.

I mean that it's the weak point for social pressure for censorship: account portability only works as long as the centralized did:plc server preserves your identity, if they delete your DID there you gotta start over from scratch. it falls short because it's fundamentally centralized
