It is definitely frustrating, and I don't mean to ignore the fact that improper credits are super frustrating (it's one of the reasons we volunteer on a database like League!) and I do appreciate your post for explaining the difference in the roles.

Which hopefully answers your question and explains why I have 0 issue with you pointing out the difference, but DO have an issue with you lying (saying you were completely excluded when you weren't) and calling us "fuckers" for a misunderstanding you've even shown is a common misconception.

By pointing out reviewers do that, it also points out how easily misinformation can be spread and how the idea the two roles are functionally the same can be spread. One could say your post brings greater awareness to the fact they're different and why it was immediately updated.

I fixed it because me, and others, spend a lot of time to make sure those credits are accurate. Not all of us read manga, I didn't until recently, and weren't familiar with the "adaptation" credit. Again, it's easy to understand when you're inside it, not when you're outside it.
December 16, 2024 at 2:28 AM
So thats why you were improperly labeled (NOT excluded), and why it was fixed immediately upon seeing your original posts explaining the role. In fact, I fixed it BEFORE I noticed that you had insulted me and other volunteers by calling us "fuckers" for something that didn't happen (excluding you)

They didn't include you in the solicits, and users misunderstood Script Adaptation as Translator (all volunteers sacrificing their free time). Adaptation is likely to be added, and when it is, you'll be switched over in the system from writer to script adaptation (I would assume) to reflect the book
December 16, 2024 at 2:26 AM
It isn't as simple as just adding it. There is a *ton* of work, nuance, etc, that goes into databasing (again, an understanding of a field that is obvious when inside, but not when outside). Marvels solicits often get copy pasted onto the description because it's "official."
December 16, 2024 at 2:25 AM
It isn't as easy to just "add" a credit or write your name with script adaptor as you're making it out to be, just as it isn't as clear to those not in your role that Script Adaptation ≠ Translator. So you were added as Translator. Adaptation as been in the talks of being added for a bit, but...
December 16, 2024 at 2:24 AM
League has a defined set of credits in the database to not allow for ones seen as unnecessary for a comic page (COO, etc). Adaptation was not one of them. Someone put you in as translator (they did not exclude you) instead of writer or adaptation (the latter because it doesn't exist at this time).

And the last thing I'll say, as it's clear this conversation is unhelpful since you don't seem to want to own up to being in the wrong, is to reiterate that you seem to have an issue with the company not crediting you properly, NOT with your readers. But are instead directing that anger at readers
December 16, 2024 at 1:59 AM
I can admit it would've been the right thing to do. I didn't specifically edit UXM, as there's hundreds of editors, but it would've been good to reach out. No excuse for not other than it didn't happen. But I noticed you didn't reply to the fact that you lied and insulted other people.
December 16, 2024 at 1:56 AM
All you've done is lash out at people who supported your work instead of the company that decided not to credit you properly. I have no interest in reading your work anymore because of this behavior. All you did was burn bridges. Sure, one sale is nothing in the scheme of things, but still.

I have spent hours of my life working on Leagues database, for zero pay, in order to ensure proper crediting of artists. I often ask artists questions or for clarification and am ignored. We do good work to make up for publisher flaws. A simple misunderstanding is not a reason to call us fuckers.
December 16, 2024 at 1:04 AM
If you're referring to the synopsis field, rather than the credit field, that's marvels official solicit. So again, this seems like you have an issue with marvels crediting of you, not Leagues. We reflected what marvel said. It is copy paste from the solicit guide.
December 16, 2024 at 1:03 AM
If you have an issue with the fact League doesn't assume credits not in solicits, or an issue with marvel for not including you in the solicits (which, based on your description of your role, they should), that's a different situation. This is a misunderstanding of a credit, not "leaving you off"
December 16, 2024 at 1:00 AM
The issue you looked at, #10? You were added on October 1st, which can be seen in the public log of edits: leagueofcomicgeeks.com/community/co.... That was before marvel has officially credited you for the book, given you were not mentioned in the solicits.

You were listed on all the released issues as "Translator." I changed it to writer. It seems the unreleased issues didn't include you as they're based on marvels solicits, which don't list you. You were not left off, and the edit logs prove this. You called a group of people fuckers for no reason.
December 16, 2024 at 12:55 AM
Can't say being called a fucker by a writer on a book for not understanding a credit that isn't as clear as you're saying it is makes me want to continue to pick up your books or anything you work on. Might be time to axe UXM from the pull list due to this behavior
December 15, 2024 at 11:46 PM
League is made up entirely of volunteers (of which I am one). I've updated the issues to reflect your credit as a writer. To assume everyone automatically understands a credit as vague as script adaptation just because someone in your position(aka that role) does, and then call them fuckers? Not cool

I guess if you think nothing matters it makes sense why you think lying publically and spreading misinformation is okay
