Food that would be at home in a non-vegetarian coffeehouse. Also, some early morning photography to go with an unapologetically hearty breakfast.

In the suburbs, there is no cover and no escape. One would get cornered, quickly. For a potential fugitive, they're an inviting looking trap.

If this sounds like an encouragement to come out to the suburbs, know that you'd be welcome out here, but you probably shouldn't come, if you're worried about reliving the plot of "Born in East LA." The city is full of tunnels to run down, dumpsters to hide behind - lots of way to escape pursuit.

If, for whatever reason, one can't find those papers - a more common predicament that some might expect - deportation can get fast tracked. Meaning that somebody who barely even understood Spanish could end up being dropped in Mexico.

For now, I'm going to offer a silent prayer of thanks to whoever is listening, that all has remained calm in my location. The city of Chicago, apparently, has not been as fortunate.

meaning that sooner or later, licorice ice cream pies will be, as well.

This raises an important question. What are the boundaries of pie?

Can tamales at least be considered pie-adjacent, because they have dough surrounding a filling?

An unrelated, but still important question: Have you ever had a meat pie, with a vegetable pie on the side, followed by a desert pie, or would that be too much pie?

Wondering if I just described a pasty.

Yes, yes, God, yes! Thank you, Kelly!

Why don't more people get this?

And now the world needs a story about two half-frozen hummingbirds getting it on.

Just wait until he joins team licorice, and discovers that the world just can't understand him.
