On St David's day a few years ago I took a video of a chiffchaff hovering and feeding on maybe insects in Euphorbia flowers outside my kitchen door in Exeter. Two other people on a bird forum seem to have observed similar behaviour. Expert observations welcome. @britishbirds.bsky.social #chiffchaff

Thank you @maryannehobbs.bsky.social for the "Conversations with Polly Jean Harvey" swiftly followed by "Conversations with Nick Cave". Could not think of more perfect company whilst alone preparing veg for my family on Christmas Day. www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/...

This is a delight. Simon Armitage's "The Owl and the Nightingale". Elegant and hilarious writing beautifully read by Rachael Stirling and Maxine Peake. Rachael's voice reminded me of her saying 'Guy Garvey's Finest Hour, one hour too long" and made me smile.
A Christmas Eve treat for your listening pleasure. Simon Armitage’s highly engaging new translation of the lively medieval poem The Owl and the Nightingale, performed by the poet himself, Maxine Peake and Rachael Stirling.

I had not heard "Morcheeba" for quite a while. This recording from St. Moritz Festival de Jazz 2024 well worth a listen. Skye's wonderful voice in a spectacular setting. www.youtube.com/watch?v=rZ_q...

I have just arrived here and am looking forward to meeting new friends, sharing, learning and exploring. My first post is a quick sketch I did from a photograph in a Sunday newspaper many years ago : the artist Francis Bacon's mother having tea with him in The Ritz London.
