It's a wrap! Thanks for the ride @blender.org!
I had a great time and learned a lot of stuff. Thanks to Omar and Habib for the mentoring, and I will definitely continue to contribute to Blender. :)

I'll be around at BlenderCon this week and happy to chat :)

Uh-oh:
Spiraling down the #nixOS road.

After watching this video (www.youtube.com/watch?v=dsl_...), I thought I should also have dinner. Dinner with the penguins and the snowflakes.

Let's see how far I am getting with this. Not sure I am ready.

Only found the OD trailer and yes, it shows UE. But what I have quickly read was, that Physint is planned to be coming for the PS6, so I bet Guerilla’s Decima Engine will also be able to crank up fidelity. Not sure why they are not moving forward with their collaboration, but definitely not nice.

Where did they state they use UE? 🤔

Honestly flabbergasted by all the amazing work presented at #BCon25. It’s nice to see what everyone makes out of Blender and how far contributions can go. Definitely one of the nicest communities to be around. Superb talks, nice location, great people. Can’t wait to see you all next year again 🧡🎉

First @blender.org Conference in person. Let’s gooooooo!

Pretty interesting. Some models from Eero Simoncelli (Portilla-Simoncelli, Freeman-Simoncelli, DISTS) tackle this from the human perspective, but models still seem to fail summarizing (natural) image statistics. So I suspect that this is related to your comment. Will check the paper. Thanks!

I've got a new blog post for all of you fine folks! It runs through the additions to D3D12 since it was released, and finishes up with some of the things that have changed for me personally in my code.

(And yes it's really been 10 years 👴).

Ten Years of D3D12
For those of us that have been using it from the start, it can be hard to believe that Direct3D 12 has been around for nearly ten years now. Windows 10 was released on July 29th 2015, and D3D12 has be...

62: Joshua will present to you how to create controlled environments to study mid-level vision.

88: I will introduce you to physically-grounded scene metamers, a method to allow you to probe your models for invariance against different physical scene parameters such as material, shape, pose, etc.

Pretty nice city for a pretty nice conference (jubilee).

As #ECVP2025 wraps up, I’m delighted that #ECVP2028 in Paris was accepted at the Business Meeting! ECVP will meet again before but the Parisian organizing committee is already planning an unforgettable 50th anniversary!

If anyone is still interested in my “model metamers for scene properties” poster, please drop me a message and I will send you the link to the GDrive :)

Questions, comments and advice are welcome! 🥳

See you next year @ecvp.bsky.social 2026!

Hey #ECVP,
Thanks for the nice conference and the splendid organization. First ever conference and really enjoyed all the chats I had with so many people. Also, thanks for stopping by my poster and all the questions you brought :)

Personal highlight: Roland’s keynote. Gave me a sense of belonging.

Good morning #ECVP!
Today, two of my colleagues are presenting their posters in the morning and afternoon session 🎉

Lina will introduce you to (mismatching) causal relationships and @lreining.bsky.social will introduce you to MooneyMaker, a Python package to create ambiguous two-tone images.

I'd be glad to see a lot of people at our poster on Tuesday, August 26th, 10-11.30am at #ECVP2025 and tell you more about which cost functions shape your behavior in sensorimotor decision-making!

I won't get to join you all at #ecvp2025 @ecvp.bsky.social this year because I'm on holiday in Australia... but my lab is there in force! Please do go say hi, and check out my students' and postdocs' amazing work!

Hot take: anyone who compares features (especially AF...) between the Sony A7IV/A7rV, Nikon Z8/Z9, Canon R5/R1, etc and says they just can't take good photos with some of those cameras but can with others... at this point that's a skill problem, not a camera problem.
