Sometimes North Bend (the actual filming location) has its moments (I grew up at the other end of Highway 18 from the town in Auburn). At some point, I keep promising myself, I'll actually sit down and watch Twin Peaks as well.

Even way back in your early career as a senator, you've stood up for your constituents, Sen. Murray. Thank you and please don't back down. We need your continued leadership.

(The hearings, which began on Oct. 23, had been uneventful to this point. After Magee’s testimony, though, things devolved quickly to Fall’s fall, and badly tarnished Pres. Warren Harding’s name. Until Nixon’s Watergate break-in, the Teapot Dome affair was America’s worst scandal in US history.)

(Magee, who purchased The Journal from Fall in 1920, told Congress that Fall had been cash poor in 1921, but somehow or another had managed to purchase the Harris Ranch, a property adjacent to his Three Rivers Ranch he long had coveted, by June 1922, and made improvements to his own ranch.)

(He would be arrested near Santa Rosa before Christmas. As the fatal shooting of Chavez took place at the Buffalo Beer Hall off Las Vegas’ Old Town Plaza, he’d be brought back to San Miguel County to face trial.)
