I actually stopped there decades ago (didn't try the challenge). The waitress told me that a lot of the people who succeeded just checked into the motel on the property to sleep it off so they got the money anyway.

This is my district and all this is correct. It's also true that the southern suburbs of Portland (north Clackamas County) have been trending blue for a while. Chavez-deRemer only won in 2022 cecause the Dem incumbent was primaried out by a remarkably inept "outsider" candidate.

She might be from Vancouver but most of that district isn't Vancouver. She barely beat an outright fascist (Joe Kent) to get the job. She's far from great, to be polite, but there's a real risk of a much worse outcome if she's tossed in the primary.

His Cost Plus Drugs is a good thing. I fortunately have GoodRx so I don't have to use it,otherwise I'd have to find and pay for a part d plan that covers all my prescriptions or fork over 200 a month for a generic that should cost 6 or 7.

Fair point about the fascists but it's still a mob mentality. I suspect he understands the complexity and pitfalls of what it will take to replace the current disaster better than most of the people attacking him.
