Helps to drill the point that homologous but not sister chromatids recombine with each other, that there is usually just one or two recombination event in the whole chromosome pair and how gametes end up with non-recombinant chromatids.
I find it a quite effective teaching tool.

Cool! I also use cards to teach meiotic recombination. Black and red are a homologous chromosome. Each black suit is a sister chromatid and each red suit is a chromatid.

You should be thankful they at least consider this epigenetic regulation within a person rather than transgenerationally
