Vital point that also applies to science communication. If I talk about linguistics on TikTok, I risk being a little wrong every day, and then being attacked by colleagues as unprofessional/unscientific. But the alternative is to leave all discussion to random influencers rather than experts.
There is also a general culture within the party (in part due to your point) that discounts or strongly penalizes attention/digital performance/messaging, so there is a strong disincentive and risk for members to perform well in this capacity if they want to ascend.
