Stoked to see how these "journalists" will help "shift a narrative" and stop our eyes from seeing all the women and children being murdered in Gaza on our social media feeds
nkalamb.bsky.social
Van Jones, two NYT journalists and Michael Powell (of The Atlantic, formerly NYT) are among 16 "scholars and journalists" serving as mentors for a journalism fellowship with the mission to "support a secure State of Israel,” and which the founder says exists to win an "information war."
Other fellowship mentors include CNN’s Van Jones, who recently issued an apology after drawing intense criticism for comments he made on HBO’s Real Time With Bill Maher on Friday making light of images of dead Palestinian children and saying they were part of an Iran and Qatar disinformation campaign; and Michael Powell, a staff writer at the Atlantic and a former national reporter at The New York Times, whose recent articles include “The Double Standard in the Human-Rights World,” that criticizes groups like Amnesty International and Doctors Without Borders for becoming “stridently critical of Israel.”

Nice. I’m a Jays guy and mostly just in shock, this is wild shit lol
bendowsett.bsky.social
Wait are you a Jays guy? Or a Yankee hater? Either way is entirely acceptable.

Oct. 7, 2023 was a horrible day full of unimaginable atrocities, and should be acknowledged as such.*

*But only by those who ALSO acknowledge the decades of Israeli atrocities that led to it, and the 2 straight years of live-streamed genocide that have followed.

2 years of genocide. Entire towns demolished. 20,000 kids dead. Dozens of hospitals destroyed. People burning alive on our social media feeds.

Preceded by 6 decades of apartheid occupation, racism and bigotry.

And in between, a single day where the shoe was on the other foot.

Always a pleasure to volunteer with SLC's chapter of Jewish Family Service and their food pantry.

*Reminder*: JFS is *NOT* only for Jewish people - it's for everyone! They give out food every day 1-3pm (11-1 on Fridays).

Address: 495 E 4500 S

Tell anyone you know who is struggling for food.

I’m so thrilled to have no fucking clue what this is about

Holy shit Trey Yesavage

Notice how Van Jones still completely avoids blaming anyone for the state of children in Palestine.

It’s all “heartbreaking” and “sad” - but no one is actually responsible.

They have no problem naming Hamas every time something bad happens to an Israeli, though!
Van Jones “apologizing” for his jokes about dead Gaza babies and talking about how “heartbreaking” it all is while carefully avoiding placing even an ounce of blame on the people who are killing all the children in Gaza.

“This genocide being done to you is actually your fault”
chimeraxmachina.bsky.social
Democrats are now openly blaming Palestinians for the genocide Israel is committing against them. If this party is the "lesser of two evils" then your entire political system is beyond redemption.
Rep. Hank Johnson @RepHankJohnson:
"I am gratified that Hamas has agreed to release the hostages. Hamas is responsible for the ongoing genocide being undertaken by the State of Israel, and I call on the Trump administration to force a stop to that atrocity, and to prevent Israel from annexing the West Bank. Progress can then be made towards a peace agreement that includes the establishment of a homeland for the Palestinians."

Quote:
The New York Times @nytimes Oct 3:
"Breaking News: Hamas said it had agreed to release all Israeli hostages, alive or dead, under the terms of President Trump’s proposed Gaza peace deal. Follow live updates.

If Hamas tear-gassed an Israeli football facility, there’d be a week of Heavy Thinkpieces on every major Western outlet about The Muslim Extremist Problem

Wonder if CNN will even acknowledge this incident whatsoever. I’d bet no
bendowsett.bsky.social
As always, if this act was perpetrated by Muslims instead of the IDF, no one would have any trouble calling it what it is:

Terrorism

This has to be the last straw. If FIFA won’t act, and we know they won’t, UEFA must step in.

NOW.
The headquarters of the Palestinian Football Association — which flies the FIFA flag as a full member — has just been tear gassed by Israeli occupation forces.

A national football institution, treated like a military target.
@FIFAcom, where are you?

For anyone who cares: In the article above, I made the case the NBA should move all challenge decisions to the Replay Center (read it if you want my reasoning).

Earpieces would help facilitate/streamline that.
bendowsett.bsky.social
But that takes longer and involves extra personnel.

I don't really agree it's an optics nightmare. People should *want* them getting more calls from the Replay Center. They're better at getting stuff right from there. They have all the technology. Several other sports do it.
bendowsett.bsky.social
NBA has tested earpieces before, something I've reported on in the past: www.sbnation.com/nba/2025/4/1...

To my knowledge they won't be used in games this year. But they're almost certainly coming, mostly to speed up reviews.
bendowsett.bsky.social
This isn't happening in games this year that I'm aware of. Not the first time they've tested stuff like this in preseason or summer league.
