The founder/maintainer of WP took offence at a private company that built their business on WP but has not, in his view, contributed back to the community. His attacks against the company have weaponised the WP project. I mainly follow events from here: mjtsai.com/blog/2024/09...

@sturdyalex.bsky.social slight quibble with closing statement re open source. I’d argue that open source is neither inherently good or inherently bad. The recent shenanigans in the Wordpress community is an interesting, although not typical, case of open source being complicated.

The narrative red tape burners rely on is that the govt is an adversary to the people so the therefore burning is liberating. This is on brand for modern Tories: it’s fundamentally divisive & helps explain their authoritarian tendencies. I hope Labour push the narrative that govt is of the people.
