I was fortunate to run a '13 M135i auto for 4 yrs / 48k miles + a '17 M140i manual for 3.5 years / 32k miles.
Brilliant cars. Beautifully built, great noise, super quick, handled well. But: brakes weren't great, steering a bit lifeless and the manual box was awful (auto suited the car much better).

I reckon the 2GRFE V6 swap would transform it. I did look into it but the costs were huge so better to move it on.

I think this was the one I owned for the least amount of time. 6 months. My abiding memories are the rattly interior, how slow it was and the utterly uncharismatic engine. I know many people love them. But it did nothing for me at all.

It's inexplicable, Mike. The only two possible reasons for doing this are a) stupidity or b) belligerence.

This is most topical! I have started using a couple of these in my GTV. 2 questions:
1) do yours make a really musty whiff when microwaving them?
2) how - if at all - do you get them down to the suggested weight? Mine never get to where they should be

I did! It's sometimes referred to as the first active aero on a production car, but that's a misnomer as it isn't automatic.

The Fulvia Sport's rear window was for ventilation rather than aerodynamics, although like most of zagato's designs the whole shape was optimised to give a much higher top speed than the standard car without any more power.
