Actually it is not. Specifically I have male Asian Koel birds outside my house that call specifically from 4-6AM every day and it's deafening. Thankfully it is usually only late Nov until March, but still. That shit is LOUD. I admit to having taken a garden hose to the trees in rage once or twice. 🤣

The mysterious black fungus from Chernobyl that may eat radiation
Mould found at the site of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster appears to be feeding off the radiation. Could we use it to shield space travellers from cosmic rays?

She had contacted animal control & they were at her home in less than an hour. It was 7:30AM by this point, so basically about 6 hours after the video. They looked everywhere. And then looked again. Nothing. Nada. So I guess.....it just slithered into another nearby neighbors home? Amazing Thailand.

Then my eyes focused and I realized with even more horror that the gate that beast was crawling under was the front gate of my close friend Aay, who has a massive garden around a swimming pool. And a medium sized dog. And a cat. Called her IMMEDIATELY (she had no idea) and told her.

Imagine my mild horror upon perusing this post early this morning when I had just woken up and was having coffee.

Someone had been driving home late from the bars and taken this video about 1AM on a small lane in the middle of town. He stopped to film and post to the group because it was so big.

I kinda hate seeing posts in my timeline, but I tell myself having the knowledge of what they are will help and make me more rational and get over my fear of them. Most of them end up being completely harmless.

Some are pretty big though, to be honest. Larger than one would like to run into.

It's mostly a "What is this?", "Should I be worried if my dog is outside?" or just general "poisonous/dangerous or not?". Over the past few years I've learned to identify some of the commonly spotted snakes there, including 3 kinds of cobras (king, monacled & Siamese spitting), Malaysian pit vipers.

My friends (against my will initially as I loathe snakes) made me join this Facebook group with the ominous sounding name of "Snakes of Hua Hin" where people post pictures of snakes they encounter and other members, including some professional herpatologists who are admins, help to identify species.

My little old Greek grandmother would have thrown them in a big ass cast iron skillet and made a hashbrown out of them and then scrambling eggs into the mixture. Pretty? No. Tasty? Indeed.
