I agree. [Everyone] should be paid a fair wage. But, using your example, we aren’t paying a family friend. We’re paying a corporation, owned by Jeff Bezos, that’s going to sell our wedding for ad revenue. Then we need to pay them $12/month to see the photos, or they say they’ll fire the photographer

That's a promo for the first year, the normal price is $120-170 (and I expect WaPo hopes to keep subs for more than a year). To be clear, I can't get that price because I've already been a subscriber for years. I'm a fan of your work and WaPo in general... That doesn't change what I wrote, though.

Washington Post subscription plans are $120-170 per year. I suppose it's all relative if that's "affordable," but I don't fault anyone for bypassing a paywall that steep to stay informed. IMHO, WaPo should be working to get more revenue from corporate advertisers than from casual readers.
