Amazon keeps trying to sell me these tools that are clearly some form of Priscilla Queen of the Desert/Cowboy cyborg creations.
Send a message you care about your country and vote. For whoever. This isn’t a partisan plea. It is a plea for citizens do do their most basic civic responsibility to tell ourselves and the world that we remain a vibrant democracy.

Voted. Easy peasy.

Canada. We have a federal election April 28. Don’t sit this one out. Vote early or vote in Election Day but vote!!! Given all that faces us, we need the highest voter turnout seen in decades.

All TDSB schools and sites are closed today due to the weather forecast. In addition, Friday, February 14, is PA Day for all students, and Monday, February 17, is Family Day. Enjoy your first #SnowDay of the year, and we'll see you on Tuesday!

Give us a snow day! We need to rally round Canadian traditions and this is a good one.

Listening to Bob Wiseman’s Lake Michigan Soda today for first time in a very long time. It holds up really well

Look. Here’s the truth. America (and also Canada) made a choice for domestic consumption of inexpensive consumer items that involved them being made elsewhere in whole or in part. Don’t pretend changing that is anything other than a slow, painful and crazy expensive process.

I’m also not fond of Poilievre. But he also is hitting the right notes. Again, we must transcend partisanship until the greater threat is dealt with.
I’m not particularly fond of Trudeau. But he did well. And there may be some advantage to him leading in this moment simply because he is leaving office. We (at least most of us) are free to rise above party partisanship in this moment.

Is CRA understaffed? I submitted a simple adjustment request August 21. The original target response was Sept. Then January 2025. Now there is no target date. The ombudsperson website says they are also experiencing significant delays

Did something go massively wrong last year? Why this jam?

If the USA is going to ignore its trade deals, maybe it’s time to reduce the duty free allowance for Canadians returning from the US. And raise it for other destinations.

Want a book? Go to your local bookstore but if you must order online use a Canadian retailer. Indigo does make it easy.

Canadians who normally disagree are going to need to demonstrate good will and work together in our national interest this year. Those who cynically use the coming crisis to advance their personal or partisan agendas should be shunned.

We need a single centre-left party in Canada right now. Time to put the high school model parliament bullshit to rest while we deal with bigger issues.

The federal NDP needs a new leader. It’s time for a refreshed vision in a changing world.

You know, I’d be very cool with multiple parties choosing new leadership at the federal level in Canada right now.

Happy Christmas Eve. Just revisited Bedford Falls for the first time in maybe 40 years. And holy crap. Is this where Henson got Ernie and Burt?

So. To those wondering where their thank you card is from me. Canada Post workers are on strike. The letters are written, addressed, stamped. They will one day be delivered. In the meantime, support your local postal workers! They are the good guys here. While you wait, here’s a cool pic.
