Reporters really should look into changes in ICE hiring practices and scrutiny of federal officers. But I agree with them on this account... Super lazy stuff.

He’s just grifting his national audience. Oregon is a great place to run a campaign… you can spend the money on pretty much anything you want.

Flock is marketed to HOAs and shopping centers, too... probably the biggest customers these days, their cameras are on many of those blue light towers you see in parking lots. Where there are stolen cars there are undoubtedly crooks, and the cameras immediately notify local police.

Just take it apart and salvage the wood. It’s amusing sometimes how sappy we get about 80-year-old structures that would be demolished without a moment’s hesitation in just about any other state.

Never met the man, probably never will.

Do you think you could put aside your political differences and be friends with a guy like that?
January 15, 2026 at 10:50 PM
Just that. They insult and disparage and lob accusations with the hope, I believe, that their opponent says something they can’t take back. Then they seem genuinely perplexed why they can’t build consensus.
January 15, 2026 at 10:47 PM
Not really lying, no. Avalos and Morillo never accused any one person of racism. If they had, I think there would have been more pushback in the media. But I think they were trying to provoke a negative reaction from any non-peacock. It didn’t work, and only further eroded trust.
January 15, 2026 at 10:30 PM
Racism is definitely a real issue, whether you’re an elected official or not. As for the reason why some councilors are voted in as president over others, I don’t think any of them really believe it was racism.
January 15, 2026 at 9:26 PM
I’m not sure what you’re getting at. Did Dan Ryan do something racist? I didn’t get that impression from anything I read or saw, and I watched most of the past few council sessions.
January 15, 2026 at 8:59 PM
By that logic, anyone who ever laughed at Bill Cosby is OK with drugging and raping people.
January 15, 2026 at 8:40 PM
Not what I said. Of course it is different.
January 15, 2026 at 8:37 PM
It must be working for him and the people who vote for him, because he nearly took the most votes in district 2. The question his colleagues should ask is: how can I make the best of the situation?
January 15, 2026 at 8:28 PM
I do, yes, with both positive and negative intentions. I would say that applies more or less to everyone, though.
January 15, 2026 at 8:21 PM
Good question. I suppose it’s because Avalos is more active on here, sharing her thoughts more than anyone else, and seems genuinely puzzled why half the council doesn’t fall in line, often chalking it up to racism when it seems to me a matter of distrust brought on by this very type of antagonism.
January 15, 2026 at 8:09 PM
Conflict of interest? You mean him being a racist while being married to a man of mexican descent?
January 15, 2026 at 7:43 PM
That’s great. I’m just suggesting that it’s much easier to do that when you put your colleagues at ease. They’re more likely to get behind you, and you’re not going to lose credibility for NOT antagonizing people you disagree with.
January 15, 2026 at 7:36 PM
No one who wants to be taken seriously will be associating with Brian Owendoff after this week, particularly not Ryan, who must have taken some offense from his comment about gay men’s hair. Yet he should apologize for listening to the guy’s concerns prior to Tuesday?
January 15, 2026 at 7:30 PM
Anyone who wants a shot at council president should probably try to be more cordial with their colleagues. There's no shortage of people taking shots at Dan Ryan.
January 15, 2026 at 6:53 AM
I think we’d have better luck asking nicely.
January 15, 2026 at 1:31 AM
That should be a predictable problem when your crop is literally a weed. They’re luck it still costs more than tomatoes.
January 15, 2026 at 1:22 AM
He’ll immediately stop thinking that if he’s made president. You know it.
January 14, 2026 at 7:40 PM
No murals, nothing pretty, just his moniker. Hopefully his offspring find a more productive path in life.
January 14, 2026 at 6:53 AM
I've been saying the same thing about the police for years. Don't be afraid to be the change you want to see.
January 14, 2026 at 6:42 AM
But who really cares if they threaten to call ICE. Surely they're not paying under the table. C'mon now, right? Surely DSA wants all work documented, protected, fairly compensated and taxed accordingly... right?!?
December 11, 2025 at 8:32 AM
I like where this is going.
