Excited to see what the community will build around this.

I loved Tiberian Dawn, Red Alert, Tiberian Sun, and Red Alert 2.

Need to figure out how I can play these 4 on a Mac :)

Indeed, if they send too many emails out, include a lot of irrelevant stuff, or are too salesy, I tend to unsubscribe as well :)

Depends on the product. If I use it, sure. I want to know what changed and how it improved. If I don't use it (anymore), I unsubscribe.

I'm using ProtonMail and I'm very happy with it. The only annoyance is that their calendar doesn't support two-way sync. So I can subscribe to the calendar and see the events in my calendar app but I can't create new events outside of Proton Calendar.

Yeah self-hosted Ghost is an interesting option. I also want to use my own website/blog instead of the Substack/Kit pages. But it looks like you need Mailgun in order to send emails via self-hosted Ghost.

Sounds easier to just use Loops, which I already use in some projects.

Yeah will be definitely different content and format.

Still undecided. Considering something like Substack/Kit, Ghost or Loops. Not sure if the recommendation/discovery features of pure newsletter platforms like Substack/Kit are worth it.

Can you recommend a platform?

The topics overlap a bit but my personal will be about me and my work while the erfindergeist.io newsletter will be generally about how AI can help solopreneurs build their empires (collection of AI tools, resources, strategies etc).

Contemplating for a while now and I think this will be the setup.
January 10, 2025 at 1:31 PM
Good question. I'm considering two newsletters:

1) My personal (monthly) newsletter about my personal work, bets, and experiments (Solo-/Entrepreneurship, Bootstrapping, SaaS, Marketing)

2) Erfindergeist.io (weekly) newsletter focused on AI-powered solo-/entrepreneurs

Essentially I like the ethics, values, and incentives a lot more in Remix than Next.js. Both are great frameworks tho.

Here's a great article on this topic: www.epicweb.dev/why-i-wont-u...
Why I Won't Use Next.js
From the perspective of web standards to concerns about increasing complexity, Kent C. Dodds shares his opinions on why he won't use Next.js.

Remix is a lot easier and straightforward. It exposes official web APIs that you use anywhere on the web.

Next.js is often a blackbox where a lot of magic happens. I also don't like how it's built to work in a serverless environment and some features only working with their hosting solution Vercel.
December 13, 2024 at 7:05 PM
I use both. But yes, for newer projects I‘d rather use Remix/React Router than Next.js. Astro for content-heavy websites.

Next.js has too much "magic" involved and it uses their own utilities instead of exposing official web APIs directly. Knowledge isn't transferable to other frameworks.

I also dislike this whole serverless bullshit.

Yeah I hate canned responses by BigTech that don't communicate anything and provide absolutely no value.

You are not allowed to use a trademark in your ads and as your domain includes "Steam" there is no way to advertize in accordance with their ToS. That's why they denied approval.

Do you know about openwebui.com? Or other paid UIs (one-time fee) like TypingMind, BoltAI etc?
Open WebUI
Open WebUI is an extensible, self-hosted interface for AI that adapts to your workflow, all while operating entirely offline; Supported LLM runners include Ollama and OpenAI-compatible APIs.

The Discover feed has its own (private?) algorithm defined by Bsky.

The Following feed has no algo and shows the posts chronologically. Unlike the Following feed on X.

Same here. Building is so much more fun than marketing.

I have muted all servers and only allow @everyone on specific servers. Also users from most servers can't DM me. Those DM's that go through result in a notification.

This way I don't receive unnecessary notifications.

Why use a monthly plan instead of usage-based payments via API key?
December 10, 2024 at 12:00 PM
That is indeed a great feature of a city. And dutch cities also provide the infrastructure for biking.

Unfortunately many cities in other countries aren't that flat which makes biking a lot harder and less fun.

I'm building a trading journal and analytics SaaS (tradojo.com). Currently targeted at crypto (futures) traders but will expand to other asset classes as well in the future.
