Also just realized that the last four movies my wife and I have watched are:

1) Weapons
2) Bring Her Back
3) 28 Years Later
4) Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit

Finally saw Weapons and really dug it-

Lived up to the hype IMHO!

I just love the sound of the bowed upright in this tune-
Rachael is such a badass musician and always leaves so much space for me to experiment with different stuff.

It is so fun. And so many great artists on that run!

This 1960 issue of Mystery In Space really brings the goods-

Great Gil Kane cover and it’s got three stories by: Gardner Fox & Carmine Infantino, Fox & Mike Sekowsky, and Otto Binder & Murphy Anderson.

Plus a neat little illustrated write-up on deep space telescopes!

I’ve never seen him live but have heard his specials and really enjoyed how off-kilter his late night show was. So funny.

*Kate’s friend from our neighborhood did the stage backdrop for one of the bands that performed on Mulaney’s Netflix show, so when he was performing near Savannah he sent her tickets and backstage passes for her and her friends.

Pretty cool of him!

Happy for my wife Kate who got to hang out backstage with John Mulaney after his show last night.

She said he was very down-to-earth and gracious.

Glad she had fun!

Sort of a messy movie, but I’m still thinking about it a day later-
An interesting look at the different sides of grief and how vulnerable kids can be to the manipulations of guardian figures.
Impressive stuff from two young filmmakers.

Watched Danny & Michael Philippou’s Bring Her Back-
Really creepy. Finds these threads of childhood fears and parent’s grief and keeps pulling on them until the tension is almost overwhelming.
And Hawkins brings a compelling level of depth to her character’s single-minded desperation. Scary stuff…

While I think there’s some pacing issues towards the third act, there’s some really effective bits of horror storytelling in the last hour as well.

Definitely not for the faint of heart as the practical horror effects are disturbingly convincing and quite upsetting at times.

One more clip from last week’s show-

I went a bar too long over the break, so you can see me sort of slink over to "my bad” the bassist at the end as I try to drop back out 🤭

What a great comic to kick off Halloween month!

I loved watching Twilight Zone reruns growing up and the story and art here by @danpgwatters.bsky.social and @morganbeem.bsky.social really captured the tone of the series well.

Good stuff!
