This is gross. If you think that responding to a tragedy with “thoughts and prayers” is insufficient, surely responding with mockery is even worse.
You don’t have to be LDS or even religious to be compassionate towards this LDS church and the collective grief of its people.

I remember as a kid, there was this boy who kept jump scaring this other girl. She hated it and she’d scream every time, and then he’d laugh. He thought it was funny when she screamed, so every time she did it rewarded his behavior.

In my quest to use up all 50lbs of grapes we harvested, last night I made the Concord grape pie from Joy of Cooking.
Very good; would make again, but I’d probably add more tapioca than it called for to get a better set.

If my spouse were to die like that, I’m sure I’d mentally need to spin it too. But this *is* spin. His final words were not witnessing for Jesus, they were race-baiting an audience member.
