Finished Vs VIII Lacrimosa of Dana this morning! While I found the combat a bit button mashy, with long hit stun, and slow evades, the twisty narrative, charming characters and Zelda-like exploration drove me through a really enjoyable experience.

I also finished Spy X Family season 3 last night. Maintains the charming blend of domestic comedy and espionage action, but I’m ready for it to start moving the characters forward, but it seems to be more comfortable as an episodic show than a serial

First finished book of the year is this collection of Facebook posts from the perspective of two mischievous cats. There are some genuinely funny incidents and turns of phrase in here but packaged like this, the repetitive structure quickly starts to grate.

First finished show of the new year is Amazon’s The Mighty Nein adaptation. Like Vox Machina, it delivers expressive visuals and expansive vocal talent to tell a streamlined story with lots of gory action and delightfully stupid jokes. I do feel like it’s just getting started at the end of season 1.
