I see your point but at this stage dispassion is part of the problem - words like 'aggression', 'corruption', 'authoritarian' need to start appearing in the day to day reporting if news orgs are going to describe the situation accurately.

I remember watching telly at a cafe in Lisbon the day Teresa May was trying to get Brexit through parliament, and one of the stories on the Portuguese news was that someone in Vendas Novas had smashed up a cigarette machine and stolen all the fags. I burned with jealousy.
