Eduardo Paolozzi Born Leith 1924-2005 Ettso, 1967 Sculpture in chromed steel Presented by the artist, 1972 Museum number 2-1972 Ettso, like Paolozzi's other sculptures of the 1960s, is simple in composition, relying on curvilinear forms. Unlike his best-known sculpture, there is no obvious allusion to the figure, but the interest in distortion and odd juxtapositions is something that Paolozzi played with throughout his career. We have an immediate relationship with the sculpture because we are reflected in it. This encourages us to consider the space around us. Our distorted reflection reminds us of a fun-fair 'Hall of Mirrors' - a jokey allusion that Paolozzi would have been aware of. photo of the sculpture, i am visible in the three sections of the reflection

inside of a ScotRail Class 170 train in standard class. one of the seats has a handle on it that has somehow been sheared off closeup of the broken handle, showing despite the yellow plastic exterior they are a light aquamarine green colour internally
