I loved Mishima’s Life for Sale. A nihilist offers his life, keeps surviving absurd tasks his shady clients give him and starts wanting to live. Also had no idea Playboy once serialised such iconic authors: Atwood, Kerouac, Gordimer, Le Guin, Murakami 🤯 #booksky @penguinclassicsusa.bsky.social

Reading Bill Buford’s warm, funny, and very insightful memoir/overview of modern French cuisine’s evolution in the sun in France. Sunday mornings don’t get much better

When an author has 500M followers, the path to publishing sure looks different

I hope he'll reach millions of new, young readers

But I also wonder what this trend means for access, merit, and artistic value in #publishing today...

What do others think?

It’s amazing how such a short novel can offer so much perspective. This is a beautiful, introspective book to savour. I especially loved the meticulous detail of life in space and the innumerable gorgeous ways the author found to describe light and topography.

‘Family’ is really a story about friends, a group of misfits who become chosen family. I couldn’t recommend it more. Set in Rome and written with great tenderness, it’s part of a lovely collection of translated works by Natalia Ginzburg from @dauntbookspub.bsky.social #books
