From the AD&D 2nd Edition player's handbook:

THAC0 is an acronym for "To Hit Armor Class 0." This is the number a character, NPC, or monster needs to attack an Armor Class 0 target successfully. THAC0 depends on a character's group and level (see Table 53 on page 91). The THAC0 number can be used to calculate the number needed to hit any Armor Class. THAC0 is referred each time a character increases in level. Using THAC0 speeds the play of combat greatly.

Mind if I ask what kind of a dhl surcharge did you get with suruga-ya? I've been a bit afraid to try my luck since the the de minimis ended.

I'm more or less resigned to paying tariffs (like the rest of the world often does with VAT, etc.) but am concerned about additional processing fees.

Very disappointed in @bitmapbooks.com backpedaling.

Not only is this the most poorly researched and written book they have ever published (see
bsky.app/profile/taka... for specifics), they're reneging on their previously agreed upon resolution.

Not a good look at all.

Monday 6th October 2025

Dear supporters of Bitmap Books,

Although I stand by the fact that Moses’ comments were ill-advised and insensitive, the whole thing blew up and was made much bigger than it needed to be. Moses has publicly apologised for any offence caused, as has the original poster of the comments who did not intend to cause this much trouble. I do not feel that this warrants an author losing his livelihood and ruining years of hard work to produce the book.

Despite multiple accusations to the contrary, Moses freely agreed to donate his royalties to charity. There was no coercion from me, however we both recognise that due to an increasingly stressful situation that decisions were rushed on both sides. I’m pleased to say that Moses and I have spoken again today, we stand together, and have agreed that he will receive 100% of his royalties.

Maybe I was hasty in my response, and I’m happy to admit to that. At the time I sincerely thought I was doing the right thing to diffuse an increasingly difficult situation. I will commit to donating all company profits from this first print run to the charity, Special Effect.

The bottom line is that is that Moses has apologised for his original comments, and will now be paid the royalties that are rightfully his.

Moses and myself have received a large amount of personal abuse and threats over the past few days. We hope that this statement will bring some closure to what has happened.

I see it as the least bad option? I think the shipping date is oct 15 which means it's already been printed. That's a huge amount of money to just throw away if you are a small boutique publisher.

I imagine this one won't see a second printing, though.

It's not yet at the point where I'm ready to leave, but that being said, I use word filters and mutes/blocks to avoid most of the political discourse on here.

I am aware that waffle-girl and her crew are certainly doing their best to point the ship in the wrong direction, though.
