Quick intro: I'm a faculty member at UofT in Psychology, sitting somewhere at the intersection of vision science, cognitive psychology and human factors, with strong interests in driver behaviour and digital (screen) readability.

I'm the Least Important Mammal in my house and the cats know it.

Oh, you mean this coming Monday?

You wouldn't know my Thanksgiving. It lives in Canada.

I mean, excited-insomnia is better than the alternative, but I’d like to sleep through the night, dammit.

“Why are we allowed to brain zombies with shovels?”

“They don’t ask for consent.”

Figure out ways to torment Phil and company FOR THE KIDS

I usually buy them drinks. I'll be travelling that weekend and won't be able to find entertaining torments for them

At five weeks & change out from our game day, we have had several fine drinks bought for us to enjoy on game day to make sure everything feels gooooood for Extra Life. What's surprising is we don't know what character classes we're playing yet. It could get nutty.

I was also thinking about the potential for unseen risks - jet wash, blind spots around aircraft and other vehicles
benwolfevision.bsky.social
As someone who studies exactly this corner of visual perception and driver behaviors, I agree entirely.

Although I’ve never even thought about airfields… (my work focuses on noncommercial passenger vehicles).

I bet there’s interesting questions to be asked about *how* drivers drive on airfields.

Yeah, the “I care too much” problem is real

Research Faculty Life...

Looks at a call for grant proposals.
Looks at the application form.

Between it and a massage gun, my lower back went from "pissed" to "ok, you did dumb things, but we're cool"

Your regularly scheduled indignity
White and tabby cat on his back clutching a depleted churu.

That said, if anyone knows of suppliers for Vibiemme / VBM parts in Canada, let me know.

In Coffee Madness, it’s handy to think “oh, I should replace my 8.5mm head gasket” and be able to turn up a spare when all of the part suppliers local to me are out of stock.

It’s absolutely a real thing - I used to walk past the spots for Chemistry when I was a grad student.

OK, I'm really, really glad I have the Chirp wheels (at @rahaeli.bsky.social's suggestion a while back).

I've been framing photos all weekend, which has meant sitting on my home office floor, and my lower back was just a little irked about it.

A few minutes with the 6" wheel and it's much happier

This entire weekend has been “why do it when you can overdo it?”

Let’s see if I can manage a simultaneous cooking and baking project…

And another sixteen - four 30 cm x 40 cm and twelve 31 cm x 43 cm (sized to fit the mats the frames came with) done.

I call that a good weekend's work.

My back has opinions.

It's a running joke at UTM for colleagues to pull up (with permission!) pictures of colleagues' kids when they came in to be participants
