Yes, fair but also, goading Musk into reminding people of the existence of great literature and film by him posting about it, with the extra hook that he clearly doesn’t know anything about any of them, is a service in itself and additional is diverting him from other things he might be doing.

Think that true amoral grifters who believe nothing other than their own self interest are quite rare. Johnson presumably is an example but even his thing probably relies on a bit of convincing himself first. As in, I doubt it’s *entirely* an act.

Even the ones who weren’t bonkers all along are now prisoners of their audience and the powerful phenomenon of how good humans are at believing the things it suits them to believe. Does say Goodwin have some self awareness of what he’s become and why? Hard to know for sure.

Yeah, not too keen an observer of these people because well, then I’d have to spend lots of time on them but think it’s fairly obvious from reading what they write and listening to them speak that at least a fair majority of them really are v v deranged.

That’s quite mansphere conceived “alpha”, though, definitely just manly, martial friendship. Not all that interested in women, no. Ancient Greece gay? Hell no!

What’s that you say about the surviving artefacts? Oh! Oh no!

Course we’re analysing Musks two lines on a book he’s not read here.

This one is just …

Firstly, man just give your hands a quick wash and then they won’t smell of piss.

Secondly, urine v definitely isn’t bleach but if I get ammonia or bleach on my hands, I’ll wash them a lot more carefully than if it’s just wee.

Can only imagine how many girls he’s going to impress with that.

What’s that you say about where young women largely are on the political spectrum? Oh. Oh no!

I can’t say I love it but Arsenal really have been v impressive this season. Rather them than City, from my perspective.

I don’t think a lot of the fan base follows me anyway.
November 10, 2025 at 4:36 PM
You can be good and unlucky! Arsenal were against Sunderland, for example, at least on xG (perhaps on dangerous play for the second equaliser although not really, imv).
November 10, 2025 at 10:14 AM
Yes, they have good players but far from clear who’s winning the ball for them in midfield and that doesn’t look like much of a front press either, unless Cherki is a reformed player after a few months of Pep.

Bernardo did do a lot of midfield covering work when younger but he doesn’t now.
November 9, 2025 at 4:09 PM
Feels like Foden is their only really good player outside the front 3 and he’s not *great* at the defensive elements of midfield so there are real chances of dominating the game there and keeping the ball away from their forwards.

If we press high and they settle possession though …

“What do you mean HMG has access to my company’s payroll data to tax me at source?”
November 6, 2025 at 6:56 PM
What are you implying here? Nobody with a jet pack can possibly be bad, let alone a jet pack, a chain sword and a bolt pistol for suppressing rebellions …

Did your sister hesitate before telling on him? I love the casual (but completely reasonable) family disloyalty.

It’s a brief vignette with a lot to give.

Think that’s right. It’s certainly enormously tilted towards the v heaviest vehicles so can’t really argue on road damage / repair. Guess could make a bit of a case on maintaining lights / police patrols etc but suspect that’s a small proportion of the total cost.
November 6, 2025 at 12:31 PM
It would be a brilliant story either way but I think I slightly prefer it this way.
November 5, 2025 at 6:38 PM
Yeah, all of that, for sure. We’ve played v attacking sides (3 forwards, 1 of whom doesn’t defend v much; Wirtz at 10; central midfielders who are progressive for double pivots) and I think this hasn’t suited Kerkez v well, as there hasn’t been scope for him to bomb forward as much as he wants to.
November 5, 2025 at 5:55 PM
Agree with this. Obvs v happy Robertson’s had two solid games back in the side and he can play as a third CB in possession in a way Kerkez just isn’t good at. He’s had too many dubious defensive moments this season and last to be an attractive option on the regular though.
November 5, 2025 at 5:21 PM
It would be v churlish to have any complaints about the last two games but we need Kerkez back in, especially if playing against a side with an effective RW. Solving for his game not being suited to deep progressions as he’s a runner instead will need to happen at some stage.
November 5, 2025 at 4:09 PM
Him being a bit of both seems to work v well, albeit on a small data set so far. He does an awful lot of pressing and connecting for a forward but it has largely seemed too pushy to play him as a 10 in a side with 3 forwards, flying full backs and fairly aggressive central midfielders.
November 5, 2025 at 3:18 PM
Whether we can avoid the FBs ever being caught upfield, esp against low blocks I v much doubt but was still a v promising game.
November 5, 2025 at 3:14 PM
Was extremely striking that whenever we lost the ball and Madrid broke on us, camera would pan to two or three Madrid attackers up against a full back four with our midfielders mostly catching up before theirs too.
November 5, 2025 at 3:14 PM
The cunning trick of getting an extra midfielder on the pitch by playing Szoboslai at RB isn’t needed if Bradley plays like that, anyway, so makes sense to get Wirtz in the side elsewhere!
November 4, 2025 at 10:30 PM
I mean, I don’t mind playing Wirtz at LW after that showing. Will be interesting to see how it goes with Kerkez overlapping him against sides we expect to be more on the front foot against.
November 4, 2025 at 10:30 PM
Well, depends on what you consider Wirtz.
