If the working people of the world had a sense of duty to each other and organized in the collective interest we would definitely be in a better world right now, but this sense of duty to other workers more broadly is only starting to show itself after the delusion of duty to the company has faded.

Right, but how many people feel a sense of duty at their job nowadays? Most of one's day is spent doing the exact opposite of duty without even a sense of duty layered on top of it unless you work in one of the specific fields that most people do not work in.

There is simply nothing to have a duty towards in this society for most people. Are we supposed to have an overwhelming urge to do some bullshit job to make more money for rich people? The loss of upward mobility and any pretense that workers are valued by companies is a big part of the reason IMO.
