History of the Godslost Realm (1/x): The Hakars - a group of connected artisan enclaves. They are master metalworkers, especially with the talents of spinning and weaving strands of alloy formed from the liquid metal within the Shimmerlakes. Culturally, the Hakars abhor roughness and flaw. They […]

My understanding is that today Microsoft has renamed Office to “365 Copilot.” Forcibly. On everyone’s installed software. What a strange choice.

This feels like if they had renamed Office to Clippy back in the 2000s. It might go as effectively as that train wreck did.

I kind of want to assemble a bunch of quotes from mediocre white men and ai slop and make a trivia game called:

“Mediocre White Men -vs- AI”

But then I’d be forced to use AI. And it’d probably be a game too difficult to be fun.

My weekly TTRPG group just wrapped a short 4-session interstitial campaign. For our next campaign, I’m making a low fantasy hack of Kids on Bikes, tentatively titled Kids on Horses. Revolutionary, I know! 😂

I had a cracked outdoor faucet and shutoff valve that needed to be replaced. It only took two trips to the DIY store, and I count that as a win.

It's nice when I can feel like a capable human. Doubly nice when it came together on the first try with no leaks.

Neal is at it again: https://neal.fun/not-a-robot/

I dare say it’s somehow better than his password game, and that was glorious.

Popular AI-related social media posts: “lol, look at this AI being so dumb!”
LLM: “I LEARNED IT FROM YOU”

Anthropomorphization aside, I can’t get over the fact we’re reaping the bountiful shitpost harvest that we sowed.

I feel like being weird but I can’t decide on what kind of weird is today’s weird.

It's weird indie cult movie night tonight. So far, I've watched Kung Fury, Six-String Samurai and Repo! The Genetic Opera.

Anyone got any more suggestions?

Gotta say, though, Repo! is a tough act to follow.

Well, that was a productive journey tonight. I just wrote a utility that parses the balance patch notes from Guild Wars 2, and extracts all the changed skills and traits.

It then cross-references them with all the builds on Accessibility Wars, and lets us know which builds have been changed or […]

The only problem with finding Tim Tams at the grocery store is getting WAYYY too caffeinated to consume all the espresso tim tam slams that I want.

For the last four days, we’ve been enjoying a visiting family in our backyard. This little cardinal has taken up very chirpy residence there, preferring to perch in an old potted plant that didn’t survive the winter.

It’s been delightful to watch feeding times […]

I’m just re-reading some Taoist texts for the nth time, and had the thought that the Icelandic unofficial motto “þetta reddast” (roughly: it will all work out in the end) and Taoist principle of “wu wei” (roughly: doing without forcing) have an awful lot in common.

I wonder if there’s any kind […]

Back in university, I lived in a shared house with 4 other tabletop nerds. The weekly trip to the game shop was a big deal.

On one occasion, the game shop had a pile of booster packs from discontinued card games on the counter, free for the taking. No rules were available - this was mid 90’s […]

It's been a while since I've posted some new music of mine. Here's one.

I've been rewatching a lot of Cowboy Bebop lately. I think that may have filtered through from my subconscious.

I wanted to make a new leather cuff, and got randomly inspired by old school dungeon crawl maps. #handmade #leathercraft #osr #dungeoncrawl #notthatkindofdungeon

My weekly ttrpg is cyberpunk themed, and I think tonight it may be about time to bring them to the very run down and problematically-automated remnants of Disneyland.

Finished my first freehand tooled leather piece (a bookmark). I’m pretty happy with the results, and excited to do more. #leathercraft

PSA for discord users. New iOS update has reaction notifications turned on by default. Definitely was an instant-disable for me.

@britt Having tried a one-month experiment for running my own mastodon instance, I decided I'd rather throw money at mstdn.games and save my spoons -- which of ko-fi vs patreon takes less of a cut for you?

I just learned about Musk’s rantings about wanting to buy Hasbro/D&D today, and I got to thinking about what Mastodon does/did to protect against bad actors through decentralization.

I wonder if there could be a fediverse version of a tabletop rpg ruleset and/or settings and/or platform and/or […]
