This is probably the most comprehensive talk I've listened to concerning the current state of public understanding of UAP/NHI (the current monikers for "UFOs and Aliens"). Colonel Nell is decorated, intelligent, and an excellent orator. I think this is worth your time.

Tried to get my wife to watch *Once Upon a Time in China* with me, but she wasn't into it. A shame! It's a fantastic #wuxia movie. The fight scenes are phenomenal.

This was pretty insightful and actually confirms my own experiences playing around with local LLMs. Once you start understanding how to train and fine tune models, some of the mysticism goes away.
Last week, OpenAI finally released GPT-5, which many had hoped would usher in the next significant leap in A.I. capabilities. But it is just the latest product to suggest that A.I. might not get much better.
What If A.I. Doesn’t Get Much Better Than This?
GPT-5, a new release from OpenAI, is the latest product to suggest that progress on large language models has stalled.

Enjoyed reading @lewispackwood.bsky.social's article this morning. Though I think Layden is starting to show his age. His analogy to the music industry shows he's oblivious to the "programming+gamedev" Twitch niche. www.gamesindustry.biz/the-big-pict...

This year, the federal government announced the U.S. Capitol Christmas tree would come from Nevada’s Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest for the first time, adorned with ornaments representing the Silver State.
Help decorate the Nevada-themed US Capitol Christmas tree at First Friday
The theme for August’s First Friday is “create.” While the monthly downtown Las Vegas art festival is full of original creations, the theme sprouts from a different idea: Christmas.
