Thermal curtains over doorways and windows, keep all internal doors closed, electric heater. We've had no heating this winter and the living room gets too hot with one electric radiator and a thermal curtain in the doorway. Only have it on occasionally.

With an old spirit level, or a new one you're not sure of, it's a good idea to use it both ways round and see if there's a difference. Then you can either work out where the new 'level' position is for the bubble or use the average of your two non-level lines to find the true level.

We got the urn originally for my Granny, then about 95, who could lift a teacup but not a kettle. She could make tea for herself without waiting for visitors. Then my mother w/severe arthritis used it. A tap would have been a godsend for either of them.

As a young mother I rarely drank because I never had time to put on the kettle *and* make the tea. Then we got a hot water thermos urn and it was a revelation. I could have a hot drink in seconds. Since the urn died I have several times thought wishfully about a tea tap.

*Always* drink lots of water before a nap. A full bladder is almost the only valid reason to get out of a warm bed.

You can put a low price on something you never actually send out to customers.

I wonder if the people who made that have heard of washing machines?

William Golding was an English teacher in a Grammar School who hated his pupils and was cordially hated by them in return. I think the moral was that men who hate children shouldn't teach.
